Who We Are

We’re volunteer lawyers, judges, church leaders, and community volunteers with a heart for those who deserve a second chance.

Our organization was founded in 2024 and is based on the work of a nonprofit in Alabama called Redemption Earned started in 2021 by Sue Bell Cobb, a former chief justice of the Alabama Supreme Court. They assist elderly and sick people who have spent decades in prison with parole applications and then assist those who are granted parole successfully re-enter society, helping, among other things, those who require nursing home lodging, find it. We are in frequent contact with the group from Alabama, learning from them and sharing with them any information we believe may be helpful in their efforts in Alabama.

Meet Our Executive Director

Claudia S. Saari

Claudia S. Saari serves as Executive Director of Parole Advocates of Georgia, bringing nearly four decades of experience and a lifelong commitment to indigent defense and justice reform. She joined the DeKalb County Public Defender’s Office in 1987 and led an office of more than 100 people for 16 years as Circuit Public Defender. Her extensive trial experience includes defending high profile felony and capital cases.

She is a Fellow with the American College of Trial Lawyers and has served on the State Bar of Georgia’s Board of Governors since 2010. Through her leadership in local, state, and national organizations, she continues to advance indigent defense, access to justice, and criminal justice reform.

Her commitment to public service is recognized by honors including the Gideon’s Promise John Lewis Lifetime Achievement Award and Emory School of Law’s Lifetime Commitment to Public Service Award.
